1. CMU president's frustration grows as school remains state's lowest-funded university (gjsentinel.com) — Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction remains the state's lowest-funded four-year university per student, despite major enrollment growth and a strong workforce focus. President John Marshall and local officials are pressing state leaders, including visiting attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Phil Weiser, to fix what they call long-standing funding inequities affecting CMU students and Mesa County's economy.
   

2. Driver critically injured in rollover crash (westernslopenow.com) — A driver was critically injured in a rollover crash early Saturday at 26 Road and G Road in Grand Junction, and was rushed to the hospital by city firefighters. Police are still investigating what caused the wreck, including whether speed, alcohol, or drugs played a role, and have not yet released further details.
   

3. No charges filed in Grand Junction Dairy Queen parking lot officer-involved shooting (kkco11news.com) — Grand Junction residents are learning that no criminal charges will be filed against officers involved in June's deadly shooting at the Dairy Queen near North 7th Street and North Avenue. After a lengthy investigation, the district attorney found the officers' use of deadly force legally justified when confronting a suspect who had allegedly stabbed a customer and was attempting to flee in a vehicle.
   

4. Turnovers turn the tide for CMU Football in defeat against Western (kkco11news.com) — Colorado Mesa football fell 31-17 to Western Colorado at Stocker Stadium in Grand Junction, hurt by costly turnovers and a huge second quarter swing. The loss extends CMU's losing streak in the rivalry to seven games, even as the team sits 2-2 overall. Halftime brought a bright spot as CMU's Final Four women's basketball squad received championship rings before hometown fans.
   

5. Club 20 hosts candidate debates ahead of Colorado midterm elections (kkco11news.com) — Grand Junction hosted Club 20's kickoff debates, giving Western Slope voters a rare in-person look at candidates for Congress, governor, and U.S. Senate. Local concerns like wildfire risk, water, agriculture, and education funding dominated the questions as contenders laid out how they'd represent Western Colorado's interests in Denver and Washington this November.
