Grand Junction man arrested for assaulting deputies, incident exposure (westernslopenow.com) — Mesa County deputies arrested a Grand Junction man after he allegedly punched a deputy, damaged a car, and exposed himself in the street on Eastbrook Street, sending one officer to the hospital. In a separate Redbud Court incident, a Grand Junction woman was booked on child abuse and drug paraphernalia charges, prompting deputies to remind residents to report escalating domestic violence quickly.
   

2. Safety operation set for Mesa County roads Friday (westernslopenow.com) — Drivers in Grand Junction should expect a major traffic safety operation Friday on North Avenue, Patterson Road and the I-70 Business Loop, as multiple agencies crack down on careless and reckless driving. Officials hope the high-visibility enforcement will improve habits into fall and urge residents to report dangerous drivers while keeping speeds down, buckling up and staying sober.
   

3. Grand Junction Community Recreation Center to open Friday after decades of planning (kjct8.com) — Grand Junction's long-awaited Community Recreation Center finally opens today with a 4 p.m. ribbon cutting and free public access from 5 to 8 p.m. Residents can explore pools, a climbing wall, gym courts, fitness areas and more, with giveaways and special activities continuing through the weekend before regular hours begin Monday morning.
   

4. Disturbance, Main St & N 5th St (junctionnow.com) — Police responded late Thursday night to a disturbance involving several intoxicated people near Main Street and North 5th Street in downtown Grand Junction, where yelling and shoving were reported. A white pickup allegedly hit a silver car while leaving, prompting a traffic stop nearby; details may change as official information is released.
   

5. Construction to begin on next phase of 32 1/2 Road project in Clifton (kkco11news.com) — Road work east of Grand Junction is about to ramp up, as Mesa County starts the next $4.6 million phase of the 32 1/2 Road project in Clifton next month. The work will connect earlier upgrades, improve a railroad crossing, and add a new stormwater detention facility, aiming to give nearby neighborhoods safer travel options through 2027–28.
