Glastonbury To Replace Sanitary Sewer Force Main On Cider Mill Road

GLASTONBURY, CT — Construction to replace about 1,000 feet of sanitary sewer force main on Cider Mill Road is scheduled to begin around Sept. 1, according to the town.

The project will replace an existing 4-inch cast-iron sanitary force main running from the Cider Mill Pump Station at the bottom of Cider Mill Road to an existing sanitary sewer manhole at the intersection of Cider Mill and West Ledge roads.

The work is expected to take up to 30 days and will be performed by Sunset Valley Construction for the town's Water Pollution Control Division.

Sanitary sewer service to properties in the area is not expected to be interrupted or reduced during construction. The contractor will install a temporary bypass pipe to carry sewage from the pump station to the existing sewer manhole at West Ledge Road.

The replacement will require trenching through the center of Cider Mill Road. Residents are advised to use caution while driving through the construction zone.

The contractor will provide temporary driveway access over the trench and/or bypass pipe as needed. Emergency vehicle access and school bus routes will be maintained throughout the project.
