Sidewalk Project To Begin Soon In Old Greenwich: Details (patch.com) — Old Greenwich drivers and pedestrians should prepare for construction as work begins Oct. 13 on a new sidewalk along Shore Road from Sound Beach Avenue toward Greenwich Point. Weekday construction will occasionally require alternating one-way traffic, with police directing cars and the road made drivable at day's end. Town engineers expect the project to wrap up by year's end, weather permitting.

Something Natural Closes In Greenwich, NYC-Based Magnolia Bakery Eyes Location (patch.com) — Greenwich Avenue is seeing a big change as longtime sandwich shop Something Natural has closed after more than nine years behind Saks, while New York City's Magnolia Bakery is moving toward opening in the same space. Magnolia, famous for its banana pudding and cupcakes, has applied for signage and lists a Greenwich opening for fall 2026, though no exact date is set.

Beloved Parkway School Head Custodian Rich Young Honored (greenwichfreepress.com) — Parkway School in Greenwich recently honored head custodian Rich Young for 40 years with Greenwich Public Schools, including 30 at the district's smallest elementary school. First Selectman Fred Camillo joined students and staff at a schoolwide assembly, proclaiming October 6, 2026 as Rich Young Day in recognition of his decades of care, community spirit, and deep knowledge of the building.

Greenwich Hospital's 'Arc Of Care Campaign' Exceeds $125 Million Goal (patch.com) — Greenwich Hospital has surpassed its Arc of Care Campaign goal, raising $160 million to expand oncology, children's health, neuroscience, heart and vascular care, and behavioral health services close to home. Hospital leaders say the three-year effort, backed by hundreds of local donors, will strengthen access to advanced treatments and specialists for Greenwich-area patients for years to come.

Royce Family Fund (insidephilanthropy.com) — A Greenwich-based family foundation, the Royce Family Fund, quietly channels millions each year into local arts, education, health, and community projects, including Greenwich Academy, Greenwich Country Day School, Bruce Museum, Christ Church Greenwich, and Greenwich Library. While it doesn't accept unsolicited proposals, nonprofits working in its favored circles around Greenwich and the New York region may benefit by networking with past grantees and community partners.
