Woman arrested after allegedly stabbing boyfriend during argument (tallahassee.com) — A Leon County woman is facing an attempted homicide charge after police say an argument with her boyfriend in his apartment escalated into a knife attack captured on home video. The incident, investigated by local officers and processed through the Leon County Detention Facility and courts, highlights an ongoing domestic violence case unfolding in the Tallahassee area.
   

2. Layers- Leah MacDonald Art Reception (talchamber.com) — Art lovers in Tallahassee can catch Leah Macdonald’s exhibition “Layers” at Venvi Art Gallery on East Park Avenue, running through May 17 with a reception on May 1. The show features richly layered encaustic works on wood that explore memory, identity, and transformation through photography and collage. It’s a chance to see a nationally exhibited artist’s work in an intimate local setting.
   

3. Two FWB students take top spots at National Civics Bee regional finals (getthecoast.com) — Tallahassee will host the state finals of the National Civics Bee this summer, where three Panhandle middle schoolers, including a Florida State University Schools student from Tallahassee, will compete. Two Fort Walton Beach students took first and second at the recent regional competition, with the FSU Schools student placing third. All three will represent the region against top civics students from across Florida.
   

4. DeSantis postpones redistricting session, adds AI protections and medical freedom to agenda (wctv.tv) — State lawmakers are returning to Tallahassee for a reshaped special session where Gov. Ron DeSantis has delayed redistricting while pushing AI “bill of rights” and medical freedom measures. Senate leaders plan hearings on new congressional maps and re-votes on AI and vaccine-related bills, while House leaders and Democrats clash over whether the expanded agenda serves Floridians’ interests.
