1. Godby High School adds morning bus route to improve attendance for students (wtxl.com) ā Students in Northwest Tallahasseeās Joe Louis, Griffin Heights, and Basin Street neighborhoods will now have a dedicated morning bus route to Godby High School, closing a longāstanding transportation gap. School leaders hope the new service helps more teens arrive on time, eat breakfast, and start class focused instead of exhausted from long walks or public transit rides in the heat.

2. State maintenance building evacuated due to radon gas concerns (wctv.tv) ā A state-owned maintenance building on South Bronough Street in Tallahassee has been evacuated and shut down after an employeeās device detected potentially high radon gas levels. Officials say the buildingās mitigation system is functioning, but test results are still pending, and at least one employee has hired a lawyer over concerns about long-term exposure.

FAMU Safety Summit brings together law enforcement, faith leaders, and community groups (wtxl.com) ā As thousands of students get ready to return to Tallahassee and FAMUās campus, local police, churches, and community groups just met for a Safety Summit focused on crime, homelessness, and emergency response. Organizers say building relationships now should make it easier for agencies and neighbors to work together quickly when problems arise near the university.

4. FSU, FAMU graduations: See the summer class of 2026 (tallahassee.com) ā Thousands of students from Florida State University and Florida A&M University in Tallahassee have just crossed the stage in their summer 2026 commencement ceremonies. With nearly 2,900 FSU degrees and over 500 FAMU diplomas awarded, local families packed the Tucker and Lawson centers to celebrate graduates hearing from business and academic leaders.

Something Good: Tallahassee shelter dogs join New England Patriots for adoption event (wctv.tv) ā Several dogs recently rescued from the Tallahassee Animal Service Center got a big break, traveling north to appear in the New England Patriotsā annual āPawtriots Dog Adoption Day,ā where most quickly found new families. One pup had spent nearly nine months at the Tallahassee shelter before finally heading home with a āfurāeverā family, capping a feelāgood success story for local animal rescuers.
