Cary Country Club Bookkeeper Accused Of Stealing $70K In Club Funds

Cary woman allegedly used her position to make unauthorized transfers from the organization's accounts, court records show.

CARY, IL — A Cary Country Club bookkeeper has been arrested and charged with allegedly stealing more than $70,000 from the organization, according to court records.

Sara L. Gockley, 49, of Cary, is accused of using her position as bookkeeper and account manager to transfer club funds into accounts she controlled, according to Lake & McHenry County Scanner. Prosecutors allege Gockley moved $70,957.19 in unauthorized funds, including nearly $43,000 through 87 Zelle transactions from the club’s business account.

She faces one count of felony theft by unauthorized control over $10,000, according to the Scanner report.
