Missoula County's detention facility to see all piping replaced after nearly 30 years (kpax.com) — Missoula County is spending $5 million to replace all aging pipes at the detention facility, a project funded partly by a new property tax mill. Work over the next 12–18 months will swap out deteriorated copper lines and repair showers and sinks, adding about $10 a year for the average homeowner but aiming to prevent costly failures in a 24/7 operation. 
2. Missoula man sentenced for launching motorcyclist in drunken crash, fleeing scene (missoulian.com) — A Missoula man has been sentenced to five years with the Department of Corrections plus five years' probation for a drunk-driving crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist at Reserve Street and Spurgin Road. With a blood alcohol level of .377, he fled before being tracked by a witness, and will now enter corrections programs focused on treatment rather than prison time.
3. Missoula postal workers raise concerns about plans to remove letter-sorting machine (nbcmontana.com) — Missoula postal workers are warning that removing one of four letter-sorting machines from the Kent Avenue Processing and Distribution Center could slow mail across western Montana and threaten local jobs. USPS says fewer than three positions will be affected and that the change, planned after the new year, is meant to match equipment to current needs, but union leaders urge residents to voice any service concerns to elected officials.
4. Recent changes reshape Missoula's restaurant landscape (kpax.com) — Missoula diners are seeing big changes, with several well-known spots like Applebee's, Famous Dave's, James Bar, Plonk, The Depot, The Keep, and Oxford Cafe closing or going up for sale while new concepts like Biscuit Hound Cafe open. Local leaders say rising costs, staffing challenges, and post-COVID habits are reshaping where and how residents eat out.
5. Missoula Co. finalizes budget for 2027 fiscal year (nbcmontana.com) — Missoula County has finalized its 2027 budget, adding funding for detention center water line repairs, a sheriff's office addition, and new clerk and treasurer staff while creating a reserve for large taxpayers. Despite a 3.25% overall property tax increase, many homeowners in and outside Missoula city limits will actually see small reductions in their county tax bills thanks to earlier state reforms.

- i found this cat up on foothills, he's a male tabby with no collar.
i gave him some food and water but unfortunately i can't take him in.. js wanted to see if this was anybody's kitty (Nextdoor Franklin) - We had a bear in our yard last night.
