• Geese Stolen From Deal Lake In Asbury Park (patch.com) — Longtime Deal Lake favorites Taco and Churro, two geese cherished by Asbury Park residents and Catbird restaurant patrons, were taken by three people and transported to a Warren County farm. After a social media outcry, an Asbury Park detective and Monmouth County SPCA officer retrieved the birds, who were found healthy and are now safely back on the lake while the investigation continues.
   

• Mercy Center Announces 2026 Mercy Classic Charity Golf Tournament and New Mahjong Fundraiser (tapinto.net) — Mercy Center, based in Asbury Park, is inviting local residents to its Mercy Classic charity golf tournament and new Mahjong and Mingle fundraiser on October 5 at Hollywood Golf Club in Deal. Proceeds support Mercy Center's work in the greater Asbury Park area, including food assistance, emergency help, and Sisters Academy, which together aim to break cycles of poverty for local families.
   

• Sciannameo Wants to Make Property Taxes Central Issue in Asbury Park Mayoral Race (tapinto.net) — Asbury Park mayoral candidate Dan Sciannameo is centering his campaign on lowering local property taxes, proposing zero-based budgeting, tighter scrutiny of development incentives, and closer coordination with the school district. He argues current leadership has allowed taxes to become unaffordable and wants residents to examine their bills while promising a detailed review of city spending, PILOTs, and school funding impacts.
