• Cold Stone Creamery Opens New Freehold Store: See Details (patch.com) — Freehold residents have a new spot for ice cream now that Cold Stone Creamery has opened on Mounts Corner Drive, celebrated with a ribbon-cutting by Mayor Lester Preston Jr. and Deputy Mayor Alan Walker. The shop offers ice cream, cakes, shakes, and delivery, with extended weekend hours to give locals more options for treats close to home.
   

• A massive python was hiding beneath NJ home's shed — with a possum still inside it (wchram.com) — Animal control officers and the Monmouth County SPCA recently removed an 8-foot Burmese python from under a backyard shed in Freehold, where it had swallowed a possum. The non-native snake is now safely housed with a permitted reptile expert, and the SPCA is urging residents not to release exotic pets into the wild.
   

• U.S. News Ranks the Best High Schools in New Jersey for 2026–27 (njfamily.com) — Freehold's Biotechnology High School ranks 72nd in the nation and among New Jersey's top public high schools in the latest U.S. News & World Report list. The rankings spotlight several Monmouth County academies, including High Technology High School in Lincroft, and compare how specialized schools statewide stack up on college readiness and test performance.
