NJ Man Admits Shooting Girlfriend Dead
Kevin Dorsey shot a revolver into a closet where his girlfriend was, "recklessly" causing her death, Atlantic County authorities said.
EGG HARBOR TWP., NJ — An Egg Harbor Township man admitted to shooting a revolver into his bedroom closet, killing his girlfriend who was inside the closet, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.
Kevin Dorsey, 53, faces 20 years in New Jersey State Prison for aggravated manslaughter and certain persons not to possess a handgun.
During his guilty plea, Dorsey admitted that on Oct. 26, 2023, he was inside his Egg Harbor Township home when he fired a revolver five times into his closet, "recklessly" causing the death of his girlfriend Charlena Burnett, who was inside the closet at the time, authorities said.

Dorsey also admitted to being prohibited from possessing a firearm due to his prior convictions. Court records show a history of about a dozen convictions dating back to the 90s.
He remains in Atlantic County Jail ahead of his sentencing on March 18, 2026.
