• 76-Year-Old Woman Scammed Out Of $60K, Police Seek Public's Help: PD (patch.com) — Police say a 76-year-old woman was scammed out of $60,000 after meeting two men in Williston Park and Mineola who claimed to be helping with fraudulent Apple Pay charges. Nassau County detectives are still investigating and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers or 911, reminding Mineola residents to be wary of unsolicited texts about financial accounts.
   

• Queens man indicted, five others charged in large-scale narcotics bust in Nassau (longislandpress.com) — Nassau officials announced in Mineola that six people have been charged in a major narcotics trafficking case that allegedly funneled fentanyl and other drugs into communities across the county. A July search warrant reportedly uncovered more than half a million potentially fatal fentanyl doses, firearms, and extensive packaging supplies, following a yearlong investigation that traced uniquely stamped drug envelopes tied to multiple overdoses.
   

• Ducks defeat Hagerstown Flying Boxcars, 7-6, in Game 1 of North Division championship series (newsday.com) — A key Long Island Ducks playoff win comes with a Mineola connection: starting pitcher Nick Margevicius, who has lived in the village since 2019, takes the mound for Game 2. He says playing close to home lets him return to his family in Mineola after games, a big change from earlier stints that kept him overseas during major life moments.
