Designed by Brooklyn-based BAAO Studio, the house blends a dramatic gabled roof, light‑filled great room, and flexible family spaces with durable accoya siding and shou sugi ban decking tailored to Queens' harsh coastal conditions.
   

3. Brooklyn Company Accused of Selling Fake Construction Safety Cards (bkreader.com) — Two Queens men and their company, which operates a training site on Hillside Avenue in Queens, are accused of selling fraudulent construction safety cards to workers who never completed required courses. Prosecutors say undercover investigators paid $500 for cards without training, and the Department of Buildings has now invalidated Redcode's SST cards, potentially affecting local workers who relied on them for job access.
   

4. The Housewife Film Depicts Nazi Guard Hermine Braunsteiner Ryan in Queens (memesita.com) — A new film, The Housewife, revisits how Nazi war criminal Hermine Braunsteiner Ryan quietly lived for years as a homemaker in Queens before her past was exposed. The movie and its backstory highlight Maspeth's unsettling role in this history, showing how an ordinary neighborhood once unknowingly sheltered a major Holocaust perpetrator.
