Investigators have not yet linked the two incidents and are asking Southampton residents to share any tips confidentially by phone or email as they work to determine what caused the fire.

Duo Accused Of False Reporting After Crash Into Pole: Police (patch.com) — Southampton Town police say a man and woman from Mastic falsely reported who was driving after a single-car crash into a pole in Riverside near Lakeview Drive and Lake Avenue. Officers initially found the woman claiming to be the driver, but the pair later returned to Southampton Town police headquarters to say the man had actually been operating the vehicle, leading to misdemeanor false-reporting charges.
