While kids go back to school, Syracuse police will be tracking drivers who pass busses (cnycentral.com) — Syracuse drivers are being warned that school bus cameras will ticket anyone who passes a stopped bus as kids return to school on September 8. Syracuse police say the goal is to change driver behavior and prevent car‑to‑pedestrian crashes, with fines starting at $250 and increasing for repeat offenses on undivided roads with parallel lanes. 
2. Beyond the weekend: Here's what's happening at the NYSF and in CNY (cnycentral.com) — Syracuse readers can plan a full week around the New York State Fair, with big-name concerts, Dairy Day, and a late-night Shrek Rave at Chevy Court. Outside the fairgrounds, Syracuse football finally kicks off its home schedule Saturday at the JMA Wireless Dome against New Hampshire, with plenty of attention on Coach Fran Brown's squad.
3. Cheer on Syracuse football or jam with Goo Goo Dolls this week (dailyorange.com) — Syracuse-area residents have a busy week of live events, from the Syracuse Mets at NBT Bank Stadium to a Goo Goo Dolls concert at the Lakeview amphitheater and multiple themed nights at the New York State Fair. 4. Gov. Hochul Warns Canada Tariffs Will Raise Costs (bkreader.com) — Speaking at the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, Gov. Kathy Hochul warned that steep new U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods could raise everyday costs for New Yorkers and strain farmers and businesses. She highlighted risks to cross-border supply chains, from autos to agriculture, and vowed to keep pressing for tariff refunds and support as the trade dispute with Canada escalates.
