• Overnight dredging in Hatteras Sloop Channel to continue through June 20 (islandfreepress.org) — If you’re catching the Hatteras–Ocracoke ferry, expect an altered schedule while overnight dredging continues in Hatteras Sloop North Channel through June 20. The Army Corps is clearing about 50,000 cubic yards of shoaling during 10 p.m.–6 a.m. work to keep this critical route safe for residents, visitors, businesses, and emergency services.
   

• Dare County Schools Welcomes New Administrators for the 2026–27 School Year (outerbanksvoice.com) — Cape Hatteras families will see a familiar face step into leadership, as teaching and learning facilitator Julianna Gorges is promoted to assistant principal at Cape Hatteras Secondary for 2026–27. Dare County Schools also announced new administrators at Dare Learning Academy, First Flight Middle, and First Flight High, aiming to strengthen instructional support and student success across the district.
