• Traffic to shift onto new lane at I-64 east ramp to I-464 north (exit 291A) (virginia.gov) — Drivers in Chesapeake who use the I-64 east ramp to I-464 north (exit 291A) will soon be shifted onto a new right-hand lane as part of ongoing interchange improvements. Overnight ramp closures will occur during the shift, and the left lane will remain closed while crews build a new flyover connecting I-64 east to I-464 south and the Chesapeake Expressway, with full project completion expected by summer 2027.
   

• Hampton Roads Back-to-School Guide (wavy.com) — Families in Chesapeake should note that Chesapeake Public Schools students start classes on September 8, 2026, one of the few divisions in the region returning after Labor Day. A regional back-to-school guide also compiles first-day dates and key resources for neighboring Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina districts to help families plan transportation, supplies and schedules.
   

• ‘Roomba effect': Va. university's ‘TickBot' aims to tackle neighborhood tick populations (wtop.com) — Chesapeake residents in The Preserve on the Elizabeth are getting help from Old Dominion University researchers testing a remote-controlled “TickBot” along nearby trails to cut down heavy tick populations. The permethrin-treated device is being run on selected Chesapeake paths, with researchers planning several summers of data collection to see whether it can offer a practical, neighborhood-level tick solution.
