1. Amazon plans drone delivery as it expands its Portland presence (kgw.com) — Amazon is preparing to launch Prime Air drone deliveries from its North Portland facility on N. Schmeer Road, aiming to start service in early 2027 for lightweight items. The company is also expanding its rapid-delivery footprint with new leased warehouses on SE 27th Avenue and N. Albina Avenue, signaling more ultra-fast shipping options and related activity in Portland neighborhoods.
   

2. '9 to 5': Portland marks Sept. 25 as Dolly Parton Day (koin.com) — Portland leaders have officially declared Friday, Sept. 25, as Dolly Parton Day, honoring the late singer's musical legacy and her Imagination Library's impact on Multnomah County children. A pre-gavel City Council ceremony on Sept. 23 will feature local performers and library advocates, and residents are encouraged to celebrate by sharing music, reading with kids, and acts of neighborly kindness around the city.
   

3. Could this Portland skyscraper become the city's newest data center? (koin.com) — A major downtown Portland office tower at 707 SW Washington could be converted into a multi-floor data center, adding to the city's already dense cluster of such facilities. As Menlo Digital advances its plans, Portland city councilors have just voted to explore a moratorium on new data centers and to limit nondisclosure agreements with developers, potentially shaping how this project and future ones move forward.
   

4. Portland Book Festival announces stacked 2026 guest lineup, including 'Goonies' actor Ke Huy Quan (opb.org) — The Portland Book Festival is expanding to a full week, Nov. 2–8, with more than 150 authors, artists, chefs and musicians at venues across Southwest Portland, including the South Park Blocks and Portland Art Museum. Locals can already buy tickets for intimate readings, workshops, culinary events, and a Ke Huy Quan conversation, plus a live taping of Portland-based "Live Wire Radio."
   

5. Oregon man accused of killing 5 women indicted in sixth death (miamiherald.com) — Prosecutors have indicted an Oregon man in the death of Elizabeth "Libby" Gibson, a 32-year-old Portland woman who disappeared in 2022, adding a sixth case to existing murder and abuse-of-corpse charges. Multnomah County authorities say new evidence supports a manslaughter charge and are asking anyone with information or knowledge of Gibson's remains to contact Portland police.
