• Study of Norristown Police Department made public (pottsmerc.com subscription) — Norristown residents can now review a long-awaited audit of the local police department, which outlines nearly 100 recommendations as leaders push toward accreditation and full staffing. Chief Mike Trail says many urgent fixes are done, crime and crashes are down, and a strategic plan for 2027–30 is coming, with a strong emphasis on visibility, traffic enforcement, and community engagement.
   

• Hunger Stops Here: Montgomery County takes whole-community approach to food insecurity (pottsmerc.com subscription) — From Norristown, Montgomery County officials are rallying residents to join the new Hunger Stops Here campaign, aimed at tackling food insecurity that affects nearly one in ten neighbors. You're encouraged to donate, volunteer, support healthy food access, and advocate for stronger food policies, with an online guide to connect you to nearby pantries, meal programs, and SNAP assistance.
   

• Glenside man sent to prison for illegal gun possession (timesherald.com) — A Montgomery County judge in Norristown has sentenced a Glenside man to 3½ to 7 years in state prison, plus probation, for illegally possessing a firearm uncovered during an Abington traffic stop. The case, handled in county court, involved drugs, a loaded handgun, and a prior aggravated assault conviction that barred him from having a gun.
