Greenville to remove Hurricane Helene debris from Reedy River (greenvillejournal.com) — Greenville will start removing about 25,000 cubic yards of Hurricane Helene debris from the Reedy River between Falls Park and Mauldin Road on Sept. 17, working daily for five to six weeks. Funded by a federal grant, the cleanup aims to lower local flood risk, and the debris will be recycled into mulch for city parks and facilities.

2. Salvation Army receives $250K for Greenville shelter renovation, needs $1.5M to begin work (greenvillejournal.com) — Greenville's Salvation Army shelter project needs $1.5 million by Oct. 1 to start building a much larger "Center for Hope" on Rutherford Street, expanding capacity from 90 to 143 beds. A $250,000 matching gift from Councilmember Dorothy Dowe and her husband could unlock another $250,000, and organizers are urging Greenville residents and businesses to help close the remaining gap.

3. Greenville rehab hospital doubles capacity after $40M expansion (greenvilleonline.com) — Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital on Laurens Road in Greenville has completed a $40 million expansion, doubling its beds from 40 to 80 to meet rising demand for stroke and injury rehabilitation. The project adds 40 private rooms, expanded therapy space, and about 90 new jobs, significantly increasing access to specialized rehab care for Greenville-area residents.

NEI General Contracting selected to oversee Greenville Summit renovations (nerej.com subscription) — A $10 million renovation of Greenville Summit, the historic senior apartment tower in downtown Greenville, is moving forward with NEI General Contracting overseeing the work. Backed by a new 20-year affordable housing tax assessment and funding from HUD, SC Housing, and the city, the project will upgrade kitchens, baths, windows, HVAC, and restore historic features while preserving affordability for low-income seniors.
