A consultant's study highlights US 378, US 1, Lake Drive in Lexington, Hwy 321, and Hwy 76 in Chapin as top priorities for widening, intersection upgrades, and paving to reduce crashes and congestion. 
2. Lexington ready for 2026 following offseason of growth (lexingtonchronicle.com) — Lexington High's Wildcats are gearing up for the 2026 football season with a tighter team bond, returning offensive talent, and a new-look defense under second-year head coach Stewart Young. After several close losses last year, they're eyeing a turnaround, with home games against rivals like Dutch Fork, Spring Valley, and River Bluff giving Lexington fans plenty of Friday nights to circle.
3. Columbia bookkeeper sentenced to prison, accused of stealing $250K from local business (abccolumbia.com) — A former bookkeeper for a small Lexington County business has been sentenced to just over three years in federal prison for diverting more than $250,000 into her personal account. Investigators say she pushed the company into new accounting software, then used it to disguise unauthorized transfers until a financial review and forensic accountant uncovered the losses.
4. Chapin mayor says town is on 'winning side' of lawsuit over Brighton land sale (wistv.com) — Lexington County is suing the Town of Chapin, claiming Mayor Bill Mitchell is blocking a $20.4 million sale and major development at the long-vacant Chapin Technology Park by refusing promised sewer service. County leaders say taxpayers across Lexington County could lose millions and miss out on new jobs and housing if the Brighton Capital project collapses, while Mitchell insists sewer capacity and legal limits justify his hard line.
