Outshine Bars Recalled In VA, May Contain Glass Shards: See Impacted Products

The FDA says that shards of glass have been found in certain flavors of Outshine Bars. Here's what you need to know.

Outshine Fruit Bars have been voluntarily recalled by their parent company after the FDA found shards of glass in the products.

Their owners, Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, say that the contamination is restricted to only select Outshine bar flavors: strawberry, watermelon, grape, tangerine, and black cherry.

The recall applies to the 6-packs of 2.5-ounce fruit bars, and the 24-count of 2.5-ounce bars.

Outshine bars have been distributed to supermarkets, grocers, and retailers around Virginia and nationwide.

"Dreyer’s is taking this action out of an abundance of caution following consumer reports of glass found in the product," the FDA said in a statement. "No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider immediately. Consumers who have purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund."
