Police Shoot Man Accused Of Holding Wife Hostage In Richmond Apartment: Report

RICHMOND, VA – Richmond police shot and wounded a man accused of holding his wife hostage in an apartment on Friday night, according to reports.

WTVR reports that officers were attempting to arrest the man for holding his wife against her will in an apartment on the 4600 block of Southwood Parkway when police say the man pulled out a semi-automatic pistol. Two officers then fired at him, and the man was hit in the leg. He was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, according to the outlet.

Police Chief Rick Edwards said a firearm belonging to the suspect was recovered from the scene, but investigators are still determining whether he actually fired at officers.

The man is expected to face charges related to pulling a firearm on police officers, as well as for domestic abduction. Police have not released the identities of the suspect or victim.
