VA Cannabis Control Authority Launches State Medical Cannabis Patient Survey

Virginia's Cannabis Control Authority wants to learn more about how patients experience its medical cannabis program.

Virginia’s Cannabis Control Authority is seeking feedback from the state’s medical cannabis consumers.

The Virginia CCA hopes the survey results will provide more understanding of the patient experience with the state’s medical cannabis program. The results will be used to inform possible updates to the program, the agency says.

According to the CCA, more than 114,000 unique patients visited a medical cannabis dispensary and made a purchase in 2025. Jamie Patten, acting head and chief administrative officer of the CCA, said the agency wants to use their feedback to “make meaningful improvements,” in a statement on the CCA website.

The CCA conducted its first medical cannabis patient satisfaction survey in 2024 and learned through its results that health care providers needed more training on the medical marijuana program, resulting in the provision of more education opportunities.

CCA says the survey is open to all Virginia medical cannabis patients and takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. It closes on Oct. 16, 2026.
