VA Ranked Among Hardest-Working States In America

Virginia came in at No. 11 in a recent ranking of America’s hardest-working states from personal finance website WalletHub.
The ranking considered 10 indicators, including average workweek hours, share of workers with multiple jobs and average leisure time per day, according to WalletHub.
The top-ranked states were South Dakota at No. 1, North Dakota at No. 2 and Alaska at No. 3, while Michigan came in last at No. 50.

“It’s undeniable that America has fostered a culture of hard work, with people working longer hours than residents of other developed countries and often leaving vacation time on the table,” according to WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo.
“Working hard is commendable, but people in the hardest-working states may need to consider taking a break once in a while, as a lack of leisure time can have a negative impact on people’s physical and mental health.”

Virginia was ranked between Georgia at No. 10 and Kansas at No. 12.
