FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The city of Fredericksburg has unveiled its logo to celebrate the 300th anniversary of its founding in 1728.

Designed by Arts Commission member and local artist Pete Morelewicz, the logo will be featured during a series of events in 2028. The gold-and-blue "300" resulted from more than 80 meetings with the Blue Ribbon steering committee, appointed last year.

Steering committee Chair Beth Black and Mayor Kerry Devine revealed the first pieces of merchandise featuring the logo, including a sweatshirt and a small book. Devine said she hopes to see the logo all over the city.

"We're very, very excited about [the logo]. We hope this logo will appear in literally thousands of places, on jerseys, mugs, t-shirts, race bibs, sports uniforms, signs, flags and merch all over the city," Devine said.

Devine added that she hoped the logo would "engender interest and community pride" as the celebration begins.
