End of an era: Award-Winning Charlottesville jeweler closing after 50+ years on a high note

Event Details
After more than 50 years of serving customers in the area, Reines and Rogers Jewelers will be closing its doors. Jessica Rogers is preparing to say goodbye to the Charlottesville shop where she has worked for nearly 20 years, and six years as the owner, by holding a going-out-of-business sale that opens to the public on November 5.
For an early start on holiday shopping, the sale offers fine jewelry at discounted prices from $300 to $100,000. Shoppers can choose from classic diamonds, colored gemstones, engagement rings, wedding bands, diamond bands, and fashion and statement pieces. Designer collections include Simon G. Jewelry, Allison-Kaufman, and Julie Vos.
“There will be something for everyone at this final sale,” says Rogers.
Reines & Rogers Jewelers has been voted Best Jewelry Store in The Daily Progress' Readers' Choice awards for more than five years in a row. Rogers and her husband, Kevin, took over the store in 2020 after the longtime owner, Peter Reines, retired. Reines opened the store in 1975.
Rogers says the decision to close was a difficult but necessary one. Rising rent and other business expenses are contributing factors to the decision to close, but Rogers feels she’s closing the store on a high note. However, she will miss the customers.
The store has long supported the University of Virginia, including its athletics department. Rogers' staff created a line of UVA-inspired fashion jewelry using vibrant orange Mexican fire opals and London blue topaz. The school’s signature colors are orange and blue.
“I’d just like to thank our customers for trusting us all these years to be part of those special moments of their lives,” says Rogers. We are extremely grateful, and we couldn’t have done it without our dedicated and caring staff.”
