• Trump's shipbuilding plan can't come at expense of Hampton Roads, Virginia lawmakers say (stripes.com) — Newport News Shipbuilding's role in Trump's new shipbuilding directive is front and center, as Virginia lawmakers from both parties insist any expansion or overseas work must not siphon jobs or contracts from Hampton Roads. They argue the region's carriers, submarines, and naval yards already anchor the Navy's industrial base and should be strengthened before any new Pacific shipyard or foreign-built vessels move forward.
