William and Mary Real Estate Foundation submits plan to redevelop Richmond Hall area into residential townhomes (flathatnews.com) — William & Mary’s Real Estate Foundation has asked the City of Williamsburg to replace Richmond Hall and nearby land along Richmond Road with 37 residential townhomes, potentially boosting local tax revenue. City staff, the Planning Commission, and City Council will review the plan, and residents will have chances to weigh in as the college adjusts on-campus housing. 
2. Williamsburg driver got 2 red light tickets in Virginia Beach. The problem? He's never been there. (pilotonline.com) — A longtime Williamsburg resident was mistakenly mailed two Virginia Beach red-light camera tickets tied to a vehicle and plate he no longer owns, sparking a frustrating fight to clear his name. After affidavits and calls, the tickets were dismissed, but he’s still worried that AI-driven enforcement systems lack safeguards and could wrongly bill other Virginians, too.
3. Delaware State Holds Off Stony Brook As DeSean Jackson Improves To 9-4 (savannahherald.com) — Delaware State’s football team edged Stony Brook 41–34 in a wild season opener and now turns its attention to visiting William & Mary in Williamsburg on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Hornets will bring a successful two-quarterback system into town as the Tribe begins play in its new conference, giving local fans an early-season home matchup to watch.
4. Gov. Spanberger announces multi-million dollar investment for coal-impacted communities in SWVA (wsls.com) — Virginia’s governor, who recently delivered a major address in Williamsburg, has announced $7.3 million in new funding to help coal-impacted communities in Southwest Virginia redevelop abandoned mine lands. The money will support jobs, infrastructure, health services, and transportation, aiming to turn former mine sites into long-term economic assets for the region and the wider Commonwealth.
