Alexandria Man Charged With Being Drunk In Public After Reported Knife Assault

ALEXANDRIA, VA – A 65-year-old Alexandria man was arrested on Sunday night after an apparent knife attack.

The Alexandria Police Department says officers responded to the unit block of South Reynolds Street at about 11:47 p.m. after an assault was reported. They say they found an adult man with a knife wound that was not life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital.

Curtis Hunter, 65, of Alexandria, was arrested shortly after and charged with being drunk in public. Police are considering further charges. They say both men appeared to be intoxicated.

Alexandria has experienced a series of knife attacks over the past month, including a domestic incident and an attack near the Braddock Road Metro station. The city's police chief has commented on the increase in felonious assaults.
