• Albertville greenway trail system plan approved by city council (waff.com) — Albertville’s city council has approved a master plan for a greenway trail system that would link neighborhoods, public housing, schools, downtown, and parks across the city. The multi-phase project aims to boost walkability and connect residents to Sand Mountain Park, with a long-term goal of reaching Lake Guntersville State Park and potential grant funding targeted next summer.
   

• Guntersville woman accused of shooting into family member's home (whnt.com) — Law enforcement tracked down a shooting suspect on U.S. 75 in the Albertville area after she allegedly fired multiple shots into a family member’s home in Mt. Hebron. Deputies used Flock cameras to locate the vehicle and safely arrest the Guntersville woman within about 90 minutes, and she’s now jailed on an attempted murder charge pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
   

• AL unemployment reaches highest rate since 2021, data shows (gadsdentimes.com) — Alabama’s unemployment rate has climbed to 3.2%, its highest level since 2021, and state data show more than 1,700 layoffs announced so far this year. Among them, 62 jobs are being cut at Southern Parallel Forest Products in Albertville, as manufacturers across the state restructure or downsize to cope with financial and efficiency pressures.
