Ellington Seeks Business Donations For Fire Station HVAC Replacement

ELLINGTON, CT — The town is asking businesses to help pay for a heating and cooling system replacement at Ellington Fire Station 243 through a state tax credit program.

Connecticut approved the project for up to $20,000 in contributions under its 2026 Neighborhood Assistance Act program. The state’s list of approved projects shows that qualifying contributions to the station are eligible for a 100 percent business tax credit.

In a message sent to local business owners Monday, Town Administrator Matthew Reed and Fire Chief Cole Prato asked businesses to consider contributing. The minimum qualifying donation is $250. A business contributing $5,000, for example, could receive a $5,000 Connecticut business tax credit, subject to approval by the Department of Revenue Services.

Businesses seeking the credit must submit Form NAA-02 online by Oct. 1. Reed cautioned businesses to complete the application process and receive state authorization before making a contribution in reliance on the credit. The statewide program has an annual funding cap.
