Left in Durham dumpster, Kingston is adopted; deputies still seek person of interest in suspected animal cruelty (cbs17.com) — A dog named Kingston, found abandoned in a Durham dumpster with a cord around his neck, has already been adopted into a new home after care from the Animal Protection Society of Durham. Deputies are still seeking the man seen on surveillance video with the dog and are asking anyone with information to contact the Durham County Sheriff's Office or Animal Services.
   

2. 18-year-old killed in overnight Durham pedestrian crash; driver charged (abc11.com) — An 18-year-old was killed early Sunday after exiting his disabled vehicle on South Miami Boulevard in Durham and being struck by another car in rainy conditions. Durham police are still investigating the fatal crash and are asking anyone with information to contact Investigator Monroe or Durham CrimeStoppers, which offers anonymous cash rewards for tips leading to arrests.
   

3. NC education leaders look to recalculate key school-performance metric (wral.com) — Durham readers should know that 38 of Durham Public Schools' 55 campuses met or exceeded academic growth, even as state leaders consider overhauling how those growth scores are calculated.
