Engineers found missing rebar, grouting, and beam connections, forcing temporary relocation of Durant Road students to Abbotts Creek Elementary while crews made the buildings safe to occupy again.
   

2. Judge denied bond for man accused of firing gun in Raleigh car repair shop (cbs17.com) — A Wake County judge has ordered a licensed bodyguard held without bond after police say he fired multiple shots and threatened employees during a dispute over a $2,600 bill at a Raleigh car repair shop on Renfrow Road. No one was hurt, but the man faces numerous felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and second-degree kidnapping, with his next court date set for October 5.
   

3. Raleigh Monster Truck rally criticized for sexist language, lack of monster trucks (newsobserver.com) — A weekend Monster Truck Wars show at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh is drawing backlash from local attendees who say the announcer used sexist, scripted trash talk and delivered far fewer monster truck appearances than advertised. Hundreds of commenters on the Raleigh subreddit criticized both the remarks and the value of the show, while organizers and fairgrounds staff have not yet responded to questions.
