Unconscious Driver Had Cocaine, Fentanyl And Cash In Fredericksburg: Police

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A Maryland man found unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle Friday was arrested after Fredericksburg police said officers found large quantities of cocaine and fentanyl, along with cash.

Michael Alexander Bohnes, 31, of White Plains, Maryland, was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I or II controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs and a felony fentanyl-related terrorism charge, according to police and court records.

Fredericksburg police said an officer found Bohnes unconscious in the driver's seat of the running vehicle. A second officer responded to assist, and police said officers noticed signs of impairment and possible drug use.

Court Records Show Four New Cases

A search of Bohnes and the vehicle turned up large quantities of cocaine and fentanyl as well as cash, according to police. A law enforcement phlebotomist performed a blood draw.

Fredericksburg General District Court records confirm that Bohnes charged in four separate cases. Two are felony distribution cases.

The court records also show a first-offense misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs.

For the fourth case, the court record cites Virginia Code Section 18.2-46.6, differing from the police release, which identified the fentanyl-related charge as a "possession of weapon of terrorism" offense under Section 18.2-46.2.

Police said Bohnes was taken to a hospital for treatment and released before being transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Court records listed him as being in custody as of Monday. His arraignment on the four Fredericksburg charges was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
