• Bartow Fire and Emergency Services Respond To Fires Started by Lightining Strikes Sunday (wbhfradio.org) — Lightning from Sunday's storms sparked a major fire in a detached garage on Chestnut Street in Adairsville, causing heavy damage but quickly being brought under control by Bartow County firefighters. Another lightning strike also ignited an outdoor storage building in Cartersville. Officials confirmed both fires were storm-related, underscoring the risks during severe weather across Bartow County neighborhoods.
   

• Four new teams in the GPB Top 10 football rankings with three of them in 4A (gpb.org) — Adairsville High's football team has broken into the GPB Class 4A Top 10 at No. 10 after improving to 4-1 with a strong win over Pickens. The Tigers' early success marks a sharp turnaround from last year's 4-6 season. Several other northwest Georgia programs also climbed or entered the statewide rankings this week.
   

• GNTC Foundation awards fall 2026 scholarships (daily-tribune.com) — Two Adairsville residents, James Dalton and Wade Robinson, are among dozens of Georgia Northwestern Technical College students awarded fall 2026 scholarships supporting programs like Healthcare Management and Electrical Systems Technology. The GNTC Foundation distributed more than $54,000 across northwest Georgia, helping local students cover tuition, supplies, and other education costs. These awards highlight growing training and career pathways for area residents.
