Norfolk nonprofit perseveres despite vandalism before grand opening (wavy.com) — A new food pantry on Church Street in Norfolk's Huntersville neighborhood is still opening Monday morning despite vandalism and theft that damaged its outdoor setup hours before the ribbon-cutting. Changing Lives 365 says the area is a food desert and neighbors are already asking when they can get help. Volunteers pushed ahead with the ceremony and plan regular hours three days a week.
   

2. Three women awarded $60,000 in sexual harassment settlement against Norfolk home care company (wtkr.com) — A Norfolk-based home care company must pay three former employees $60,000 and overhaul its harassment policies after a federal sexual harassment case. The three-year consent decree also requires training and an independent HR monitor. Local workers are reminded they can report discrimination directly to the EEOC without hiring a lawyer, and that investigations include interviews with complainants, witnesses, and employers.
   

3. Powerful nor'easter floods Northeast, leaves over 100,000 without power as high tides threaten coast (newser.com) — Norfolk drivers are dealing with flooded streets so deep that cars are pushing wakes as a powerful nor'easter pounds the East Coast. The slow-moving storm has knocked out power to more than 100,000 customers and is bringing dangerous tides, surf, and strong winds from New Jersey to New England, with coastal flooding concerns continuing through multiple high-tide cycles.
   

4. Nor'easter leaves one dead and 130,000 without power in US Northeast (memesita.com) — Norfolk residents saw streets so flooded that cars were literally creating wakes as an unusually early nor'easter hammered the East Coast. The storm killed a man in Brooklyn, cut power to about 130,000 customers, snarled air travel, swamped marinas, and prompted emergency declarations from New York to Virginia as officials warned of life‑threatening coastal conditions.
   

5. Nor'easter continues to batter East Coast with rain, wind, big surf (newsobserver.com) — Norfolk is among the coastal areas that saw 50 mph wind gusts and both coastal and highway flooding as a strong nor'easter parked off the Mid‑Atlantic and New England coasts. The storm has already caused one death in New York, widespread power outages, and dangerous surf, with rough beach conditions and additional rain expected before conditions gradually ease.
