Arrest reports for September 21 (wrganews.com) — Several recent arrests in Rome include a woman accused of biting off part of another woman's ear at a Dodd Boulevard apartment and a South Rome man charged with cocaine possession after being found passed out on a sidewalk. State officials say this preparation gives northwest Georgia communities like Rome a competitive edge in attracting employers, backed by grants that helped upgrade and certify rural sites.
   

4. Shorter University's Brady School of Nursing welcomes junior class with White Coat Ceremony (christianindex.org) — Shorter University in Rome just welcomed 19 Brady School of Nursing juniors into their clinical training with a White Coat Ceremony at Brooks Chapel. Families watched as faculty helped each student don a white coat, heard scripture readings and a nursing pledge, and celebrated a new group of locally trained nurses preparing to serve patients across the community and beyond.
   

5. GNTC Foundation awards fall 2026 scholarships (daily-tribune.com) — Several Rome students have earned Georgia Northwestern Technical College Foundation scholarships this fall, helping cover tuition, supplies, and program costs on the Floyd County and other campuses. Awards like the Rome Home Builders Association Scholarship, Rabbit Valley Farmers Market scholarships, and others are supporting Rome residents studying fields from healthcare to horticulture and culinary arts, strengthening the local workforce pipeline.
