• Armed suspect with machete, pickaxe detained by customers during Costco jewelry heist: reports (foxbusiness.com) — Shoppers at the Costco on Woodruff Road in Greenville helped detain a man accused of smashing jewelry cases while armed with a machete and pickaxe, according to police. One customer was injured while restraining the suspect, who now faces armed robbery and assault charges and is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center.
   

• Students Build Energy-Positive Solar EV With 1,700 Photovoltaic Cells (dallasexpress.com) — Clemson University students and BMW engineers have built an ultra‑light solar‑assisted electric coupe that's now being tested and refined at Clemson's International Center for Automotive Research in Greenville. The prototype, covered in 1,700 solar cells, is designed to generate more energy than it uses on a typical short commute, giving Greenville a front‑row seat in cutting‑edge EV research.
