Greenville County students top South Carolina on key state exams (greenvilleonline.com) — Greenville County Schools students outperformed South Carolina averages on SC READY, End-of-Course, and Career Ready assessments in 2025–26, especially in Biology and U.S. History. District leaders credit years of steady academic progress and say they'll use the new data to further strengthen instruction and support for local students and teachers.
   

2. Hispanic Heritage Festival returns Sept. 13 to downtown Greenville (greenvillejournal.com) — A major Hispanic Heritage Festival is coming back to downtown Greenville on Sept. 13 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, offering food, music, and dance from 20 cultures. Hosted by the Hispanic-American Women's Association, the event raises scholarship funds for local Hispanic students and has already awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to support higher education.
   

3. Greenville's Alexander Elementary recognized for significant academic progress (greenvillejournal.com) — Alexander Elementary on Bramlett Road in Greenville has surged from one of the county's lowest performers to the seventh-most-improved school in South Carolina, with big jumps in English and math scores. State Superintendent Ellen Weaver visited Thursday to celebrate the progress, which district leaders credit to Greenville County Schools' Elevate incentive program and a restructured, highly motivated staff.
   

4. Greenville Mayor Knox White receives Chamber public service award (greenvillejournal.com) — Greenville Mayor Knox White has been honored with the Butch Kirven Excellence in Public Service Award for his decades of leadership during the city's growth. The award was presented at the Greenville Chamber's State of Greenville breakfast downtown, where local leaders also discussed recent penny sales tax initiatives and the city's economic outlook.
   

5. 2 wanted after armed robbery, carjacking in Greenville Co. (wspa.com) — Deputies in Greenville County are searching for at least two suspects who allegedly forced a man to strip, robbed him, and stole his car near East Main Street and Bessie Road in Piedmont. The vehicle was later found crashed nearby, and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers as investigators continue working the case.
