Close out the summer season with a relaxed coastal evening at The Sanderling Resort’s Seafood Boil, an open-air gathering designed for sunset views, casual conversation, lawn games, relaxed music, and classic Outer Banks flavor. The menu features a generous coastal seafood spread with shrimp, snow crab, sausage, corn, potatoes, mussels, clams, Old Bay, drawn butter, sauces, Southern sides, and simple desserts. Iced tea, lemonade, and water are included. A bar will also be available with seasonal cocktails including Orange Crushes, Spiked Sweet Tea, and Coastal Margaritas. Open to resort guests, local residents, and Outer Banks visitors, the Sanderling Seafood Boil is designed to feel easy, social, and memorable — not just a meal, but a shared summer moment by the coast.



Tickets are $60 for adults and $35 for children. Reservations are available through The Sanderling Resort website, on-property outlets, and day-of based on availability.

The Sanderling Resort invites guests to an unforgettable literary brunch in collaboration with Ducks Cottage, celebrating the rich history, folklore, and flavors of coastal North Carolina. On Sunday, September 27th, 2026, acclaimed chef, author, and television personality Vivian Howard will welcome award-winning North Carolina novelist Michael Parker to Theodosia, her signature restaurant at The Sanderling Resort in Duck, North Carolina, for a one-of-a-kind culinary and literary experience.
Inspired by Parker's acclaimed novel The Watery Part of the World, the event explores one of North Carolina's most enduring mysteries—the disappearance of Theodosia Burr, who vanished off the Outer Banks in 1813 while sailing from South Carolina to New York. The novel imagines her fate, weaving together history, folklore, and the distinctive landscapes of Eastern North Carolina.
Theodosia Burr's remarkable story also served as the inspiration behind Howard's vision for Theodosia, where the region's culinary traditions, coastal heritage, and storytelling come together around the table.
During the event, Howard will moderate a conversation with Parker exploring the inspiration behind the novel, the enduring mystery of Theodosia Burr, and the people, places, and folklore that continue to shape North Carolina's coastal identity.
Following the discussion, guests will enjoy an exclusive, chef-curated brunch created by Vivian Howard, featuring dishes inspired by the flavors and traditions of the North Carolina coast. The experience concludes with a book signing by Michael Parker, giving attendees the opportunity to meet the author and have their copies of The Watery Part of the World personally signed.
